Laboratory Technician / Chemist 
 
The Opportunity:

If you are an experienced Chemist, Industrial Chemist or Laboratory Technician, then this could be the perfect role for you.  This position will involve working in a Chemical Laboratory within a busy engineering firm.  There are currently two shifts available, being a late shift Monday to Thursday or a night shift Tuesday to Friday (see below for working hours).

The Role
  • This vacancy is a great opportunity for you to progress in a busy, hands on laboratory and factory setting.
    Working in a well-established, award winning facility as part of a small Chemistry team on the late shift, working a 4 day week but earning a full time salary.
  • The successful candidate will assist the Senior Process Chemist in the analyses, control and maintenance of all wet processes/chemistry and assist in the running of the water and chemical waste treatment.
  • Control and troubleshooting of all wet processes (Chemistry)
  • Involved in the installation and commission of new equipment and processes
  • Maintain machinery and equipment in accordance with maintenance schedule
  • Ensure that water and chemical waste treatment controls are maintained in accordance with statutory requirements
  • Use of documentation control systems – paper and electronic
What you will bring to the Team:
  • Preferably 2+ years of experience in a Chemists role.
  • Logical thinking and a good application of the scientific method.
  • A degree in Chemical Engineering or another Chemistry based qualification.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and excellent data and statistical analysis skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of detail.
  • Good understanding of technical documentation.
  • The ability to work unsupervised in a Night Shift role.
Benefits:
  • The starting salary is £29640. After 6 months and subject to meeting the required performance criteria the salary will increase to £31,320.  The highest grade in the department is £40308.  
  • The late shift attracts a bonus of £7 per day, and the night shift £15 per day.
  • Quarterly Company bonus scheme – can be up to 12% of your salary!

Working Hours:

Night shift: 6pm - 6am - Tuesday - Friday 
Late shift: 12noon - 10.30pm Monday to Thursday
