Purchasing Manager
The Opportunity:
Are you a seasoned Purchasing Manager who is able to manage the Procurement, Supply Chain and Planning function of this Devon manufacturer? As Procurement Manager, you must able to manage a team of 6 supply chain and purchasing staff, whilst ensuring that products are purchased to meet the production plan, cost, quality and delivery requirements. Your role will include indentifying and developing strong relationships with existing and new global supply partners, involving overseas and UK travel. Full CIPS membership required and whilst it would be preferable if you have worked within the automotive or aerospace sectors, a generic engineering background will definitely be considered.

Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct research to ascertain the best suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality.
- Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers.
- Identifying potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, and maintaining good relationships with them.
- Negotiate and agree contracts, monitoring their progress, checking the quality of service provided.
- Evaluating bids and making recommendations
- Training and supervising the work of other members of your staff.
- To lead key negotiations with suppliers to ensure the most advantageous contract terms and conditions to the business are obtained.
- Global and UK Travel to visit suppliers will be a key part of the role.
- Experience of purchasing, supply management, logistics, manufacturing and engineering would be advantageous.
- Experience in the automotive industry ideal, but proven managerial experience in a similar role essential.
- Advanced negotiation, communication, influencing and presentation skills.
- Contracts management experience.
- Ability to demonstrate strong leadership, man-management, motivation, delegation and decision making skills.
- CIPS qualified ideal.
