Protecting yourself from recruitment scams

Following the increasing number of reports to Action Fraud surrounding recruitment scams, Meridian Business Support has recently updated our Candidate Toolkit to highlight details of these scams, including examples, red flags and what to do should you suspect you are speaking to a scammer or have been the victim of a recruitment scam.

Meridian Business Support would like to make clear that at no point will any of our recruitment team ask you for money for job seeking activities in the UK. We request sensitive compliance information, such as your Right to Work documentation through secure portals and you should not be required to text or WhatsApp such information.

If you suspect you are being contacted by a scammer or have been a victim of a recruitment scam

If you believe you have been in contact with an individual attempting to commit a recruitment scam, you should:

• Immediately stop communicating with the scammer.
• Report the details of your communication with the scammer to JobsAware and Action Fraud.
